Fall weather always creates such an excitement for me. The rush of the beginning of the year is over, but there is such anticipation in my classroom as we move further into the year. One thing that always excites me is our KMEA In-Service Workshop. Our KMEA Leadership are working overtime to ensure a wonderful ISW full of motivational workshops, opportunities for professional collaboration, and most importantly, celebrations featuring our talented elementary students!
Be sure to plan early to attend our In-Service Workshop in Wichita this February. You are sure to find many great teaching strategies and connect with teachers from all over the state. Our ISW lineup includes Artie Almeida, Patty Bourne, Thom Borden, Tricia Kidd, and Janie Brokenicky.
We are also excited to feature The Wichita Riverside Elementary Choir and the Lawrence Cordley Elementary Choir as our KMEA performing groups this year.
It’s never too early to start thinking about submitting a recording of your performing group for our 2018 In-Service Workshop. Begin by preparing a quality recording of your group with a varied repertoire. We are always excited to feature our youngest students!
Our KMEA All-State Elementary Choir is also returning with this year’s director Elizabeth Nunez. Elizabeth will also be holding a session in the elementary room on creating a cohesive choral ensemble. You won’t want to miss it. Be sure to submit those student recordings so we can have another record number of students participate this year. Check the All-State Elementary Choir page – http://ksmea.org/elemchoir/ for information on how to submit a recording. The deadline is November 4th. Thanks again to Holly Taylor for providing such great leadership in this area.
I can’t wait to see all of you in Wichita and please contact with me any questions or comments.
